Every creator eventually hits the same wall: one Instagram bio link, one chance to send someone somewhere useful. The obvious answer has been link-in-bio tools for a decade now. So why build another one?
Because the existing ones got greedy.
The problem with what's already out there
Linktree is the category-defining product. Millions of people use it. But if you've looked at a Linktree page on the free plan lately, you've noticed something: ads. On your page. The page you send your audience to. The one that's supposed to represent you.
Beacons is trying to become a full creator commerce platform — digital products, bookings, tip jars. That's fine if you need all of that. But most people don't. Most people want to say "here are my five links, pick one." For those people, Beacons is expensive and complicated.
We kept running into creators who were paying $5 or $10 a month for features they'd never use, or putting up with ads they couldn't afford to remove.
What we wanted to build
A link page that:
- Loads fast
- Looks genuinely good without configuration
- Is free for most people, actually free — not "free but with ads"
- Costs less when you do upgrade
- Gets out of your way
That's it. No built-in merch store. No scheduling software. Just links, a bio, and a beautiful page.
What's free, and what isn't
Everything you need to get online is free, forever:
- Unlimited links
- Drag-to-reorder
- Your own
@handle - A mobile-optimized, good-looking page
Pro ($3/month) unlocks the things power users want: analytics, custom domains, full design control with themes and custom CSS, and the ability to remove the Linkycat branding footer.
We deliberately priced Pro lower than every comparable tool. Linktree is $5/month. Beacons is $10/month. We can sustain the business at $3/month and we'd rather have more Pro subscribers at a lower price than fewer at a higher one.
What's coming
We're building toward analytics (click counts, referrers, device split), scheduled links (publish a link at a specific time, expire it automatically), email capture, and tip jars for Pro users.
None of that is out yet — but it's all on the roadmap, and Pro subscribers will get it as it ships.
If that sounds like what you've been looking for, create your free page. It takes 30 seconds.
